Gustav arrives... shades of Katrina 2005! The entire gulf coast seems to be vulnerable to hurricanes, and often big ones at that, so why do people stay and rebuild? No matter. I'm more curious as to why these areas do not build with hurricanes in mind (or perhaps they have, or there's an explanation with which I am unaware).

Dating back to my studies in high school, I learned of Richard Buckminster Fuller, the inventor of the geodesic dome. Homes based on the geodesic dome have greater structural integrity compared to the traditional house, but unless you have entire communities on board with the concept, they are anything but conventional.

So, buck tradition and convention and maybe you will be the only kid on the block to still have a house standing. Interested? Check this site out for more information.
